Urine Testing In Blood

Urine is a waste product of the human body that is expelled through the urethra. The process of urine production takes place in the kidneys of a healthy human being. Here, the blood is filtered for various different toxins and waste products that are unnecessary. These unnecessary products are passed into the urinary bladder along with some water. The quantity of urine depends on the amount of water being consumed by the individual concerned and on other environmental factors. The urine collects in the urinary bladder from where it is expelled during the process of urination.

A urine test is a physical and chemical analysis conducted on a sample of urine. This sample is collected during urination, usually during the first part of urination. The reason for collecting the first part of urine expelled is that this urine is likely to carry any abnormal material with it that may be present in the urethra or bladder opening. These abnormal materials are associated with diseases that cause inflammation or irritation in the urinary system. For some specific tests, the collection of urine may be done in the morning as the urine evacuated in the morning tends to be of a higher concentration.

The presence of blood in the urine is a condition known as hematuria. Hematuria is a problem that is caused by serious complications but is also often caused by minor issues that resolve themselves. For this reason a urine test with blood in it is likely to be analyzed thoroughly in order to understand the source of the blood. In many cases it may not be possible to see the blood in the urine. This blood only appears under microscopic or chemical analysis. In cases where the blood is not visible, its diagnosis is generally due to some other problem that has prompted the person to undergo a urine test analysis.

It should be noted that red blood cells are eliminated from the body through the urine throughout the day. The condition known as hematuria is related to a sample where the quantity of red blood cells eliminated is much higher than normal. This could be caused by physical injury in any of the concerned organs or by a disease or infection affecting any of the concerned organs. A condition where the urine appears extremely dark with visible blood in it is called gross hematuria and is considered to be a serious medical condition.
