Chemical Peel For Acne Scars

Acne is a skin condition that affects many people across the world. It is most common in teenagers who are passing through puberty. This is because of the continuous changes that take place in the hormone levels at such an age. As sexual maturity is being achieved, the body passes through many different phases of hormonal activity and this tends to be one of the main causes of acne. Acne tends to cause various skin problems such as pimples and zits. It can also cause an area of skin to be red and inflamed or just to be red and irritated. Apart from itching that is felt from time to time, acne causes no major symptoms. The problem of acne is more cosmetic than medical and it is the cosmetic effect of the condition that leads patients to seek treatment. Acne can, over a period of time, lead to the development of permanent marks or scars on the skin surface. These blemishes on the skin are undesirable and treatment for the same maybe sought by individuals who are concerned about their appearance.

Chemical peel is a procedure that is used for acne scar removal. It is a process where the top layers of skin are peeled off by applying a chemical to it. The top layer of skin is the layer that contains most of the scars and blemishes. Getting rid of this layer at one shot will help the skin below grow onto the surface without retaining the original scarring. It is possible to use this treatment at home or in a clinic. Chemical peels are acidic in nature which makes it imperative that the application process be conducted carefully and according to the correct guidelines.

The skin tends to be sore after a chemical peel has been applied and it is not uncommon for people to experience itching and burning. During the period after the peel has been applied, it is recommended that scratching be avoided completely. Any exposure to the sun could be harmful, so a stronger than normal sunscreen is recommended. Patients are also required to wash their skin thoroughly and regularly after a chemical peel for acne scars. The soap used for washing should be moisture laden so that it does not dry the skin. After washing, the patient should use a good moisturizing product as the skin tends to be dry and irritated after a chemical peel.
