A heart transplant procedure is used to replace the failed or failing heart of a patient with a functioning heart. In cases where heart transplants take place, the patient’s heart has been damaged to a point where its recovery is no longer possible. It is not possible for an individual to live without a functioning heart. An artificial heart transplant is a procedure where the patient’s body is connected to an artificial heart. This artificial heart is essentially a machine that is designed to perform the functions of the heart under stimulation from the same electrical currents that the patient’s heart would normally receive from the nervous system. It should be noted that the development of the artificial heart transplant procedure is still underway. There is constant change and development in this aspect which means that there are new solutions available to patients regularly.

 In most cases, an artificial heart transplant is used as a means to keep a patient going while a suitable donor heart is found. When these weak hearts receive assistance, the risk of failure reduces. This is because there is less strain on the weak heart. In some cases, the patient may resume normal life after the heart has recovered. This is particularly true of patients who suffer from infections or diseases that damage the heart. If the heart is given a chance to recover, it will do so. However, under normal circumstances, the heart does not receive any rest at all which means that it is not possible for recovery to take place.
