Stress test is defined as that medical test which is conducted by doctors or medical practitioners to check the arterial blood flow to the heart while a physical exercise is being carried out. The medical stress test is then held in comparison to the blood flow that is taking place when the patient is in a resting state. The stress test is conducted to help in the reflection of the various imbalances of the person’s blood flow to that individual’s heart. This is particularly related to the left ventricle of the muscle tissue. This is that part of the individual’s heart which helps the person to perform the most quantity of the work that is pumping the blood. The final output or results that are derived from the stress test can then be used to interpret the person’s levels of bodily physical fitness.

The stress test that is conducted requires the individual to walk on the treadmill. They can also be given an intravenous medication or IV that which would help in the simulation of exercise. This is done while the person is connected to what is known as an ECG or an electrocardiogram machine.  During the process of the stress test the patient's symptoms are checked and also their blood pressure response is checked repeatedly. While conducting the ECG test and also the blood pressure monitoring by themselves, the test is then referred to as a cardiac stress test. It is even at times called an exercise stress test. Some other descriptions for the same test include it being called as an exercise treadmill test or alternatively an exercise tolerance test. Still further descriptions of the test are the exercise ECG test. Those particular patients that have an abnormal resting of the ECGs or for those individuals that are in a position to walk safely can then be made to do the exercise using the pharmacological methods. This involves them not being required to walk on the treadmill. If in another process the radioactive nuclides are used it is defined as a nuclear stress test.

A stress test can be used to check for heart diseases. Stress tests are those tests that are performed to determine the varying amounts of stress that the heart can handle before either developing an abnormal rhythm or even evidence of ischemia which is a situation of inadequate blood flow to a person’s heart muscle.
