Blood, Urine or Hair Test For Checking Influence of Methamphetamine

Submitted on March 27, 2012

Methamphetamine, also known as ‘meth’, has many medicinal uses. However, this is also a drug to which a lot of people get addicted. This drug has chemicals which directly target the central nervous system. Once the central nervous system is targeted, the brain releases neurotransmitters known as dopamine and norepinephrine. These neurotransmitters cause the person to experience a feeling of temporary euphoria and severe mood and behavioral changes. The intense emotions caused by the chemical changes in the brain can also severely affect the physical abilities of a person temporarily. There have been incidences where people have experienced psychotic aggressive behavior under the influence of methamphetamine.

Meth testing is usually done on either the urine or blood. However, lately other methods of testing have also been invented. A meth test can be performed on a sample of hair or skin too. The meth urine test is extremely reliable and has been traditionally used to screen people who may be showing addictive behavior or who are suspected of drug abuse.

Meth Urine Test

In a urine test, many different combination of drugs could be tested. Most of the testing kits are sophisticated enough to identify different drug metabolites. Meth gets metabolized very quickly in the body and reaches the urine in about 3-5 hours of consumption. A urine sample can even be tested at home using a test kit. Simply collect a sample of urine in a clean container and then immerse the testing agent into it. There are different kinds of urine tests, namely dip form, cup form, and cassette form.

Meth Hair Test

A meth hair test is also extremely reliable because meth can be detected in the hair even after three months of consumption of the drug. With a hair drug test, you can find out about the consumption of different drugs like cocaine, marijuana, opium, ecstasy, amphetamines, and PCP. Hair testing is slightly more expensive than urine testing. Also, while there are several different types of urine testing kits available commercially for testing at home, a reliable hair drug test can only be done in a laboratory setting.

If you are wondering how to pass a drug test for meth, the answer is simple. It cannot be done. It is slightly easier to tamper with the urine tests and manipulate them to get false readings. However, it is impossible to do so in the case of hair tests. When you use a home meth test, there is a possibility of getting a false positive. A false positive meth test could be caused by metabolites that are similar to opiates and other drug metabolites. In a meth blood test, if you test positive for meth it is more likely that the test is accurate.
