Labia Test

The external female genitalia include the labia minora and the labia majora. The labia majora is the larger outer lip around the opening of the vagina. The labia minora is the smaller inner lip around the opening of the vagina. These parts of the female external genitalia are a part of the vulva which includes other parts including the clitoris. The vulva is the externally visible part of the female genitalia. These structures play a part in the sexual response of a woman.

A labia test is a test conducted to check the health of the labia, specifically when there is some abnormality detected. An abnormality in the labia is usually in the form of some growth or visible defect in this area. Vulvar cancer does affect some women and is usually presented on the labia rather than on other parts of the external female genitalia. Cancer is a progressive and aggressive condition that, if untreated, causes serious consequences. Cancer treatment during the early stages of the condition is far more effective than cancer treatment that takes place after the condition has progressed. This is because cancer cells tend to grow and multiply gradually as the condition worsens. When they spread across the body, other organs and body areas may be affected by cancer. The labia test is a simple physical examination of the area that is conducted by a doctor. Doctors may take swabs of the area or may seek a biopsy sample from the area depending on what condition is suspected. The labia may be affected by infections, like a yeast infection for example. This type of infection may affect the vagina as well. Genital warts may develop as a result of some disease or infection. The labia test uses theses samples to detect any sort of abnormality in the individual.

The labia test interpretation is used to understand what problem is actually affecting the patient. As with all medical conditions, proper diagnosis is the first step towards curing or containing a medical condition. Women who discover any abnormality in this area of the body are advised to visit their doctor immediately to ensure that the condition is nothing serious. A lack of timely intervention, particularly with cancerous conditions, is likely to be damaging to the health of the individual in the long run.
